A total of 72 British female Members of Parliament have expressed their solidarity with the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle in a sympathetic open letter.
The MPs, who come from different political parties, said that they were firmly behind her efforts to take action on the intrusive coverage by the British tabloids.
"As women MPs of all political persuasions, we wanted to express our solidarity with you in taking a stand against the often distasteful and misleading nature of the stories printed in a number of our national newspapers concerning you, your character and your family," the letter read in part.
The letter comes on the heels of an interview aired on ITV in which Markle addressed the distress that the extremely intrusive British media had caused her and her family.
“I never thought this would be easy but I thought it would be fair,” she told ITV in the exclusive interview. “And that is the part that is hard to reconcile, " she added.
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's husband, announced that the couple would be taking legal action against the British tabloids for the intrusive coverage.
“Unfortunately, my wife has become one of the latest victims of a British tabloid press that wages campaigns against individuals with no thought to the consequences, " Prince Harry said
