At least one court will be set up in every constituency as the government seeks to resolve the issue of backlog at the Judiciary.

Chief Justice David Maraga, who spoke when he officially opened Ruiru Law Courts, said that the judiciary is working around the clock to bring the services closer to its people as much as possible.

He noted that the cases of delay in justice will be a thing of the past once the courts become operational in the country as planned.

Maraga also said that the Judiciary is engaging the national government in talks to help it get extra funds for the process of the establishment of the courts in the country.

Maraga, however, did not reveal the amount of money they want to construct the courts across the nation for better service delivery to the residents of different areas.

Maraga also asked lawyers to support his offices in the process of fastening the hearing of cases saying that they have been part of the problem.

The head of Ruiru Law Courts Clara Otieno hailed Maraga and his team for the project. He noted that the public can now access the court, which is handling handle 3,397 cases at the moment.

“Ruiru residents will from now not be required to go to Thika, Kiambu or Gatundu to seek justice. The new court will help them have easy access to justice,” she said, as quoted by Standard.
