Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has advised Siaya Senator James Orengo to cut ties with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.
Miguna noted that Orengo, who is also the Senate Minority Leader, had great credentials for leadership and urged him to "stand on his own" and to fight for justice.
"Senior Counsel James Orengo: You have a mature beard, goatee, two homes with gates and wives, children, a honourable profession and a background in activism to boot: stop nursing Raila Odinga 's dirty locomotives. Stand on your own. Do your own things. Fight for justice," the vocal lawyer said in a tweet on Saturday.
Miguna was reacting after Orengo accompanied Raila to the burial of former Assistant Minister Fredrick Oduya Oprong in Teso, Busia County on Saturday.
Echoing similar sentiments, Wycliffe Shikuku, a lawyer and human rights activist, asked the vocal legislator to dump the former Prime Minister, arguing he (Orengo) was risking ruining his political career by sticking to him.
"I support Miguna, Orengo: Raila is killing your legacy, you have done well in the past. Your name will disappear if you leave this world while in Raila's kitchen. As Miguna is saying, you don't need Raila. Go your way, answer to your God's call," Shikuku posted.
Orengo parted ways with the former Prime Minister in 1996 after he backed former Vice President Micheal Kijana Wamalwa for the leadership of Ford-Kenya against Raila.
They later mend fences and currently, the Senate Minority Leader is Raila's close ally and legal adviser.
