Police in Migori are investigating an incident where a woman died after she allegedly ate at her neighbour's home, in Oruba sub-location.
Anne Awuor, the deceased, had reportedly joined other people in the area for a feast at the neighbour's house on Saturday, only to be found dead in her house later that evening.
The incident was confirmed by area Assistant Chief Charles Ouma, who said that the woman was found dead at her rented house within the area.
The administrator added that the police who were called in classified the case as a possible case of stomach complications.
Ouma noted that initially, the woman had sought some herbal treatment after she began feeling unwell, adding that she had thought that she was bewitched.
This, especially in a region where people believe in witches and being bewitched while eating, is a common thing in most parts of Luo Nyanza region, especially the interior places.
The chief, however, noted that the real reason behind the death remains unknown and cannot be declared just yet, with the police set to conduct a pathological test to establish the cause of the death.
The body has since been moved to the Migori Level Four Hospital pending the postmortem test, according to the Citizen Digital.
