Uasin Gishu County Government in collaboration with the Kenya Informal settlements Improvement Project (KISIP) will soon issue title deeds to Kuinet, Maili Nne and Hill School settlements.
According to the County Executive in charge of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development Eng Nelson Maritim, issuance of the title deeds will help address long-overdue land issues that have been there since time immemorial.
"Let us fast track the ready titles so that we can issue them as soon as possible, we need to liaise closely with the Ministry of Lands for verification of lists to ensure everyone gets a title," said Eng Maritim who spoke during a meeting between the Department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development at the County Headquarters in Eldoret on Thursday.
"The issuance of title deed will be done the soonest where due process, zoning regulations, and the law must be followed in the allocation," he added.
Chief Officer for Lands and Housing Adv Ruth Chelashaw emphasized the need for verification to ensure that all those that own parcels of lands are genuine.
Chelashaw cautioned that all the land that had been allocated for public utilities must remain as they are and that any outright forgery of documents in a bid to grab land would be addressed to the DCI office.
She reiterated that it will be unfortunate for anyone who will be tempted to bring fake documents or even documents of a public utility since they will face the full force of the law.
