Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has hit out at the Opposition leader Raila Odinga for wanting Deputy President William Ruto to step aside and be investigated over corruption.
In an exclusive interview with the Citizen Television at his Opoda Farm in Bondo, Raila claimed that Ruto had been hosting crowds in his home, slaughtering chicken and dishing out millions of shillings from unexplained wealth. Raila wants a lifestyle audit done on the deputy president.
Chemno says the move was ill-intended and meant to tarnish the good name of the deputy president amid 2022 succession politics.
“I want to condemn the utterances of the opposition leader Raila Odinga with the strongest terms possible, why is he always attacking the deputy president? He should leave him alone since he has no heart of giving like the deputy president,” said the Uasin Gishu deputy governor.
Speaking in his office on Saturday Chemno said all involved in corruption should be named and shamed and should not use the deputy president's name to wash their dirty linen.
“If Raila is serious on the fight against corruption we need to investigate all scandals such as Anglo leasing, medical leasing equipment, NYS, fencing of the Somali border where we spend sh 6 billion for 10 km.
This is what all Kenyans want to hear,” added the second term Jubilee deputy governor.
