A sizeable number of former employees, representing 800 people who were kicked out of the payroll, on Tuesday held protests outside Governor John Nyagarama's office.
The team chosen from across all the 20 wards, blamed the administration for selective justice, arguing that some of their colleagues had been reinstated through backdoor.
Payroll audit committee had frozen salaries of over 1,000 people in May, who were found culpable of irregular employment. They were however, given time to appeal.
But those who were not lucky, accused the governor of 'use and dump', arguing that they had campaigned for him in 2017, with some saying they were almost 'killed' by opponents.
"You cannot use and dump us. We fought opponents and some of us almost lost lives. The governor must come alone here and explain to us why the change of heart," one of the protestor said.
He added: "Why are they sneaking others back? We can't allow such discrimination. The governor must have explain the matter to all of us now."
A source on payroll audit committee said those who were reinstated, had put forth some of documents that were required for investigations.
"We had given them time to appeal. Some were able to convince the committee and they were cleared. Those in cold could not explain circumstances behind their employment," he said.
County Secretary Eric Onchana on Tuesday promised to investigate the claims adding that he will not allow few people to be sneaked back to the payroll.
"I will personally not allow that. We are going to investigate the matter soon and take action," said Mr Onchana, who has been serving as County Secretary for six years.
Governor John Nyagarama beat Walter Nyambati in 2017 polls for his second term. He also managed to win in Supreme Court early this year.
