The party has been undergoing turbulence for two years now, with critics blaming the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Deputy President William Ruto has often criticised the union, arguing that the major plot was to lock him out of 2022 succession politics.

Ndii now says the party has collapsed, adding that President Kenyatta is still a KANU member.

"What to make of this? 1. Jubilee is finished. 2. BBI is a non starter. 3. Uhuru is KANU damu," he tweeted on Saturday.

President Kenyatta left KANU in 2013, winning presidency on defunct The National Alliance Party.

Kenyatta has often said that he's keen to unite the country, adding that the Building Bridges Initiative will save the situation.

"In the year 2020, we will continue to make Kenya a better nation for all her people as we build bridges of brotherhood among our peoples by weaving a stronger fabric of patriotism and nationhood," he said during his end of year speech.

President Kenyatta is set to retire in 2022 but some pundits have been claiming that his plotting to stay on albeit in a different position.
