DCI detectives on Friday arrested a middle-aged man in possession of fake firearm certificates.
The suspect, Eric Mosoti Isoe, was arrested in Buruburu after the detectives acted on intelligence.
"Acting on Intelligence,Transnational Organized Crime officers based at DCI headquarters have this evening arrested one Eric Mosoti Isoe in Buruburu after finding him in possession of a suspected fake firearm certificate," DCI tweeted.
The officers made their way to Tena Estate where they searched a house and recovered 10 firearm certificates bearing different names, 21 rounds of ammunition, 5 civilian firearm certificates and 2 spent cartridges.
It remains unclear how the suspect acquired the items.
"Further investigations led the officers to his house at Tena Estate where a search was conducted & 21 rounds of ammunition, 2 spent cartridges, 10 firearm certificates bearing different names, 5 civilian firearm certificates of similar serial numbers bearing the suspect's," DCI said.
The detectives managed to come across 9 copies of National Identity cards during the process. The suspect is currently behind bars awaiting arraignment in court.
"Also recovered were assorted firearm certificate application forms and 9 Identity Card copies of different people among other items that were confiscated. The suspect has been placed in lawful custody awaiting arraignment," DCI added.
