The DP recently claimed that his life is in danger following the emergence of a letter allegedly written by a Cabinet Secretary and addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta with the details.

The group of 21 Members of the National Assembly on Thursday called for a probe on the DP to establish if he was part of the plot.

This comes days after detectives found out that the letter was fake and might have been authored by his allies and aides operating from his Harambee Annex offices.

In a statement, the MPs argued that the arrest of his ally, State House Digital Director Denis Itumbi, and the fact that the DP is the one who brought the matter out to the public raises serious questions on his role in the entire saga.

"We want the Deputy President to be probed to ascertain what he knew about this fake assassination plot. This is because he is the one who introduced the idea that there was a plot by Cabinet secretaries to assassinate him,” reads the statement from the MPs quoted by the People Daily.

They demanded that he fires all his aides named in the scandal, and also apologize to Kenyans for giving false and alarming information.

“In this regard we expect the Deputy President to make a public apology to Kenyans on causing them such anxiety based on falsehood,” said Limuru MP Peter Mwathi.

Other MPs during the press conference at the parliament buildings included Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Jared Okello (Nyando), Ken Chonga (Kilifi South), Ken Abuor (Rongo), Caleb Amisi (Saboti) and Tiaty MP William Kamket.

Kamket insisted that the DP must take full responsibility for the harm the claims have caused in the nation.

The group also asked the courts to handle the matter seriously, as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continues to dig up more information.
