Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has defended his character after weeks of accusations over Kibra by-election skirmishes that left several MPs terrified.
During the polls, a host of MPs among them Didmus Barasa were roughed up by unknown goons, who were allegedly associated with the second term MP.
Jubilee team under Deputy President William Ruto has been accusing ODM of instigating chaos, a claim that Mr Raila Odinga's party has rejected.
In an interview with Sunday Nation, Arati, who has been linked to the chaos, insisted that he's a calm person unless provoked.
“I am not a violent person. But just like a lion, I can’t keep calm when I am wronged,” he defends himself.
The ODM MP was first nominated to the City Hall as a councillor in 2007 before winning Dagoretti North seat in 2013.
Arati has since been dependable for ODM party in Nairobi, with Raila Odinga tasking him for key mobilisation of people during major functions.
According to him, Kisumu Governor Peter Nyong'o is his role model. Prof Nyong'o has served as a leader since 1992 when he was first elected as Kisumu Rural MP.
“We were told that he had seven degrees and I wanted to be educated like him,” he says, before adding that the gods conspired to ensure that he never grew a beard like Prof Nyong’o’s.
Last year, Arati was installed as Gusii community spokesman by a section of elders, a move that irked political temperatures in the region.
