A team of women leaders allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga will on Friday visit Kakamega County for a mega empowerment rally.
Dubbed team Embrace, the team compromises of pro-handshake women leaders majority of them Women Reps, Senators and governors.
Team leader Gladys Wanga said the rally will be among many that are set to be conducted with the ultimate goal being promoting peaceful coexistence among Kenyans.
Gender and Youths Chief Administrative Secretary Rachael Shebesh and Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru are also among team leaders.
"Tomorrow together with colleagues from Team @embrace_ke we shall be taking our message to Kakamega County at a Mega Rally that will take place starting 9am at Bukhungu Stadium. #EmbraceInKakamega ," she said.
Elsie Muhanda and two other nominated Senators are set to host the event. Kakamega County is an ODM stronghold and has elected Governor Wycliffe Oparanya twice.
Likoni MP Mishi Mboko urged Western Kenya residents to also turn in large numbers for the peaceful rally. It will be the first in Western Kenya by the women leaders.
"Kakamega we are heading your way tomorrow. The entire team from @embrace_ke will be gathered at the Bukhungu Stadium for a mega rally. Make a date with us from 9am. #EmbraceInKakamega," she said.
The team is pushing for gender equity in the anticipated constitutional amendments and already submitted proposals to Building Bridges Initiative.
