Speaking in Machakos on Wednesday in Machakos during the launch of Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) training, the tough-talking CS said that events in schools were being used for other purposes.

"There will be no events, no fundraising, no prayers whether in public or private schools...You can pray for your child in the house and it will arrive directly to the child," he said.

CS Prof Magoha called on school heads who had issued invitations for events in their schools to rescind those invitations with immediate effect.

He said that the school environment should be made conducive for the learning of students.

Teachers who will violate the stern order, he warned, will have disciplinary action taken against them.

His strong words come amid a sustained push by the Ministry of Education to implement the CBC.

Schools have for long been used to host all manner of events.

The ban by the Education CS will come as a shock to school heads across the country.

Prof Magoha, just like Dr Matiang'i before him, has been keen to crackdown on certain practices in schools with a view of imposing order on the eucation sector.
