Speaking on Saturday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after the Harambee Stars jetted back, Mr Mwendwa said that the federation never lied.

He said that there were records that would validate the federation's claims.

"We cannot be arguing about bills, about players every time this team wants to play. For the last four years, we have organised this team properly, we've never had a problem anywhere for four years. At the end of my term when we have elections, there are people that I have called that want to make this a big deal, it is not a big deal. They have said we have lied, I want to say that we have not lied, " the FKF boss said.

There had been claims bandied around that the reason why the Sports Ministry was slow to release funds for the accommodation of Harambee Stars in Egypt was that there were fears that the bills had been inflated.

The Kenyan side was nearly thrown out of its hotel over unpaid bills but the Sports Minister in Egypt is said to have intervened to prevent that from happening.
