A political analyst now opines that while ODM leader Raila Odinga appears to be in charge on matters the BBI, it is President Uhuru Kenyatta who has the final say, being the one in power.
Speaking on KTN's InsidePolitics on Sunday, Mark Bichachi who is also communication expert, said that Raila is the roaring lion as far as the BBI is concerned. However, the one who had the power to tame the lion was the president since he was the one in power.
He went ahead to suggest that while BBI and the handshake are being sold out as a unification call, the entire issue might have been the idea of President Uhuru Kenyatta, as he sought to tame Raila who was causing trouble after losing to Uhuru in the 2017 poll.
"There was a handshake because Raila swore himself in, the handshake was created to tame Raila. The roaring lion in this particular case is Raila Odinga. The person with the taming leash is Uhuru Kenyatta," he added.
He said that the job of taming Raila lies in the hands of President Uhuru Kenyatta, with whom they founded the BBI after their 2018 March truce that saw political divisions in the ruling party Jubilee and the famous NASA outfit.
The BBI taskforce is on Tuesday expected to present Uhuru with the BBI report amid heated political debate about its contents.
