Mr Antony Juma was arrested after allegedly attempting to secure the release of Ms Gladys Wambani who had been nabbed for being in possession of illicit brew.

The 35-year-old from Etenje reportedly walked into the office of Albert Chebii, the station OCS, and attempted to offer him Sh6000 to release Wambani.

This was after Wambani was reportedly arrested in possession of 20 liters of the illegal drink.

The incident was confirmed by Mumias West Sub County Police Commander Peter Kattam, who said that the police ulhave gathered enough evidence to prosecute the suspect.

"We have in custody one person identified as Antony Juma who was arrested for offering a bribe of Sh6,000 to the OCS so as to release a suspect who was detained for brewing and selling illicit brew,” he said.

He added that the police will not condone attempts by the public to bribe officers, further warning the law enforcers of stern punitive measures if found to have accepted bribes.

“Bribes promote and perpetuate corruption and any police officer who is caught accepting bribes should face charges and a possible imprisonment for the activity," said the police boss.
