West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has welcomed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report submitted to President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.
In an interview with K24 TV, the county boss said there was no need of holding a referendum to adopt the BBI report, adding that a referendum would saddle the taxpayers with costs that can be avoided.
According to him, Parliament can adopt the report and it's proposals.
"We don't need a referendum to adopt the BBI since that would be costly. Parliament can do the adoption of the report," he said.
Governor Lonyangapuo hailed the report as a reflection of the views of Kenyans.
"The BBI report is the true reflection of what Kenyans presented during the public participation forums when the team was moving across the country. Personally my views were captured in the report, if what is out is anything to go by," he added.
The BBI report was handed over to President Kenyatta in the presence of Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
Kenyans have been urged by the Head of State to read the document with an open mind before reaching a decision, whether to adopt or reject it.
The BBI committee moved around the country for over one year collecting views from Kenyans.
