A section of leaders drawn from the Rift Valley region has read malice in the recent arrests of top State officials suspected to have taken part in the Arror and Kimwarer dams saga.
The scandal on Monday saw former National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich arrested, alongside officers from the Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA).
A group of 20 leaders now claim that this is part of a plot by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji to victimise people deemed to be allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the leaders who spoke in Kesses on Friday challenged the DPP to go after Interior CS Fred Matiang'i over the Sh1.5 billion Ruaraka land saga.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi argued that the arrests are as a result of in-house disagreements, noting that a Jubilee Party meeting is one of the few remaining options.
“We are only seeing one side of the political divide being hauled in court over graft while the other side is left scot-free despite being implicated in the vice,” he said.
Area Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei questioned the exoneration of the Attorney General in the prosecutions.
"There is no way the office of the Attorney General could have been exonerated from the multi-billion dams scam because this process cannot be undertaken without his knowledge,” she said.
Other leaders present included Hilary Kipkosgei (Kipkelion), Joyce Korir (Bomet), Nelson Koech (Belgut), Janet Sitienei (Turbo) and Senator Margaret Kamar (Uasin Gishu).
