A court has given Lwam Bekele, the widow of Fidel Odinga, and Mama Ida Odinga an ultimatum to settle the dispute over Fidel's estate.
This came after the parties involved in the case told Judge Aggrey Muchelule that they had been holding discussions with the intention of resolving their issues out of court.
The daughter-in-law and wife of veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga have been given up to November 27, 2019, to explore an out of court settlement.
Phoebe Gweno, the mother of the twins said to be Fidel's children, has also been enjoined in the case.
Lwam Bekele has been involved in a public legal feud over the estate that was left behind by Fidel Odinga.
In court papers seen by the Kenyan media, Mama Ida and her daughter Winnie had accused the widow of omitting a number of properties from the inventory of her husband's properties.
The two also accused Lwam of providing false information regarding bank account details in what they described as a malicious attempt.
“The said grant was issued erroneously, as it unjustifiably locked out other interested parties from the estate of the deceased, his other children, his mother and sister respectively. The proposed administrators cannot be entrusted alone to faithfully administer according to the law the estate of the deceased and render a true and just account of such estate, " the court papers read in part.
Mama Ida had claimed that her son had two other children from another relationship.
