Police in Homa Bay county are holding a man accused of defiling his daughter.
Charles Odhong was on Friday arrested at his home in Nyawita village in Gongo Location within Rangwe Sub County over allegations of defiling his daughter aged 16.
Area chief Daniel Omondi said that the suspect was reported by his neighbours, with details indicating that he had more than thrice defiled the class seven girl in the bushes.
The administrator added that the girl confirmed the neighbours' claims, adding that the father had warned her against revealing his heinous actions to anyone.
She also told the police that her attempts to get her mother's help were futile, and despite giving her the details she refused to act or report him to the relevant auhorities, which led the police to arrest her as well.
The chief said that the girl disclosed that the father had been defiling her in the bushes near their home when her mother was not around.
The minor was taken to Nyawita Dispensary for medical examination while the two are being held at the Rangwe Police Station pending their arraignment on Monday.
The woman is likely to be charged with concealing information about a crime.
