Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader Isaac Ruto has denied having political discussions with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga during their August 6, meeting.
The leader and his delegation were hosted by Odinga in his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi, a meeting he on Tuesday came out to clear the air on, saying it was completely non political.
The former governor said the meeting was about the impending evictions of alleged encroachers inhabiting the Mau Complex.
"We were not there for political issues. We went there to discuss with him like you saw us discussing with Gideon Moi (Baringo Senator) and we will be discussing with others.
"We have got a pressing issue in the South Rift, the question of evictions in Mau," he said on Citizen TV's News Night.
About the Narok issue, he said they went to plead with Odinga to understand that the looming evictions will be disadvantageous to innocent Kenyans, whom he said are wrongly being accused of inhabiting forest land.
According to Ruto, the group is living on the 22nd block of the forest, which is under the county government of Narok, away from forest land which is under Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
"That is land held in trust for settlements. They are outside, no one is living in government forest," he said.
However, its not yet clear on what grounds they met Raila over the issue, considering that he (Raila) does not hold any government position.
