Speaking on Saturday, the former Makadara parliamentary hopeful revealed that shoddy preparations and open rigging plans turned him off from the polls.

He said that consequently, he decided to keep off as he could not trust the poll preparations and could detect that it was not going to be free and fair.

"Venye niliona mambo inapangwa; ukora hapa, ukora pale mimi sikupiga kura (judging by the preparations, I saw nasty games being played here and there so I did not vote)," Weke said during an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.

The renowned lawyer further lashed out at forces close to Deputy President William Ruto over their attacks on President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence on the DP's fate.

A section of Ruto's lieutenants has been pressuring Uhuru to reassure the DP of his endorsement in his 2022 presidential bid, with the president remaining tight-lipped.

Weke is now accusing the group of hypocrisy, considering that some, especially from Rift Valley have been heard attacking Uhuru, saying that the two are a pair.

He noted that people cannot take sides between Uhuru and Ruto, and should instead heed the Head of State's appeal for all to rally behind his development agenda and shun the 2022 debate.

"Watu hawawezi sema rais ni mbaya na makamu ni mzuri. Kama ni wabaya ni wabaya wote sasa wanasema amenyamaza, wanataka aseme nini," he said.

This translates to; People cannot say the president is bad but the deputy is good. If they are bad then both are. They are now criticizing him for "keeping silent, what should he say."

Among those who have publicly bashed Uhuru is Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi who in May challenged the president to declare his stand.
