Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was no show at the NTV studios on Thursday despite being invited for an interview.
NTV news anchor Ken Mijungu attempted to contact the lawmaker but he could not be reached on phone.
The governor had assured the media house that he was going to attend the interview but made an unexpected u-turn at the last minute.
Attempts of the media personality to reach Waititu failed to bear fruits. Mijungu revealed that the governor was to speak on different subjects including his next move as well as the graft case facing him in court after he was blocked from office.
The Deputy Governor James Nyoro was expected to take an oath of office but Justice John Onyiego failed to show up for the event. The judge said the swearing-in could not take place because the Committee on the Assumption of the Governor’s office had failed to follow the correct procedure.
“I understand the modification relating to shortening of the 10 days period but that has not been done,” said the judge in a statement.
Nyoro is expected to take an oath of office on Friday after the Thursday event was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Waititu has already moved to court to protest his impeachment.
