President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday joined Jamaican leaders in marking the International Decade of People of African Descent in Kingston.
President Kenyatta was accompanied by Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Tuesday when they launched the celebrations.
Uhuru said he was honoured to be the chief guest during the celebrations.
“President Kenyatta, who was the chief guest at the event, said he was honoured to represent the African continent at the launch of the celebrations. The celebrations coincide with the 400 year anniversary of the time ships carrying Africans first landed in the Americas,” State House tweeted.
Uhuru toured the showground in Kingston where he saw a variety of high-grade cattle breeds.
During the visit, Uhuru said Jamaica is a blessed nation and promised to borrow a leaf from various sectors.
The two leaders vowed to exchange manpower and skills in agriculture as they seek to leave behind legacies during their tenures in office.
“The President and PM Holness said that as part of the growing cooperation, Kenya and Jamaica will work closely in exchange of expertise and technical know-how in agriculture,” State House added.
