A gunman who went on a shooting rampage that killed three sailors on Friday played mass shooting videos at dinner, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has reported.
Identified as a Saudi named Mohammed Alshamrani, the attacker was training at the Pensacola navy base when he carried out the deadly attack.
He was shot dead by law enforcement officers who responded to the attack before he could kill more people.
The three sailors who were killed by Alshamrani were identified as Joshua Kaleb Watson, 23, Mohammed Sameh Haitham, 19, and Cameron Scott Walters, 21.
A number of trainees of Saudi nationality are in police custody undergoing interrogation.
According to Sky News, the gunman had made a number of posts on social media attacking the United States of America and quoted late Al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attack.
The three sailors who lost their lives were hailed as heroes who did not run away from danger when confronted by it.
"When confronted, they didn't run from danger; they ran towards it and saved lives," Capt Tim Kinsella, the commanding officer of Naval Air Station Pensacola, said in a statement as quoted by Sky News.
Mark Esper, the US defence secretary, said, that he regarded the attack as an act of terrorism.
The motive of the attack is yet to be made public by the federal investigators according to a report by the Jerusalem Post, one of Israel's top news publications.
