ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Wednesday accused a local publication of fueling propaganda about the possibility of having consensus among the candidates.

The publication had claimed that Mr Odinga was to meet Central Management Committee to persuade interested candidates to agree on one person on Thursday.

"Fake newe by @TheStarKenya. There is no such meeting tomorrow or at all. There is no party effort for "consensus". The NEB is on course in its preparations for the nominations Saturday. Watu wakutane kwa debe. Very desperate propaganda," he said.

But on Wednesday, Mr Odinga convened a meeting with all the aspirants ahead of Saturday showdown where they will compete for the ticket.

Among others, Odinga was assured by the aspirants that they will strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the party besides rallying for peace.

"PL @RailaOdinga today held a discussion with candidates for the party ticket in the Saturday 7th Sept. nomination exercise. The aspirants assured the party leader that they will adhere to the nominations rules and that they will ensure the exercise is peaceful," the party confirmed.

Already, Jubilee party has fielded former footballer McDonald Mariga while ANC has settled for Eliud Owalo. Ford Kenya will be represented by Ramadhan Khamisi.

The seat was left vacant following the death of ODM legislator Ken Okoth in July. ODM enjoys fanatic support in the region given that Raila was MP for 20 years at the constituency.
