Mr Evans Misati's car burst tyres, before losing control and plunging into a roadside ditch. The accident took place at 7pm.

While confirming the accident in a phone interview, Misati said he did not suffer any major injuries other than immediate shock.

"I was traveling from Nyamira to Nairobi for a function. My car burst two tires and this made me lose control before landing on the ditch," he said.

"I am fine. There is no need to worry. I went for some minor checkup at Kaplong Mission and I have since been discharged," he said.

His vehicle was towed to Keroka Police Station after an okay from police manning the Kisii-Narok highway.

Misati ran for Nyamira gubernatorial seat in 2013 coming third. In 2017, he supported eventual runner-up Walter Nyambati.

In a recent event at his Manga backyard, Misati confirmed that he will be running for Kitutu Masaba parliamentary seat.

He will be facing incumbent Shadrack Mose, Victor Swanya, Clive Gisairo among others who have expressed interest in the seat.
