Harambee Stars Captian Victor Wanyama has exuded confidence that he will lead the team to victory against Mozambique in preparations for next month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Stars face Mozambique in a friendly at Kasarani on Sunday.
In an interview with Standard, Wanyama said that the team is well-prepared to face the rivals as they hope for victory during the competition.
“We want to win. We have worked hard and hopefully come tomorrow we can give Kenyans what they deserve-which is a win. So, hopefully, tomorrow we will fight for that,” said Wanyama, as quoted by the Standard.
The team’s coach Francis Kimanzi is expected to front new players as he seeks to rebuild the squad following the sacking of his predecessor Sebastian Migne.
Kimanzi will be using the game to prepare for AFCON qualifiers.
He has also exuded confidence that the team will perform well when they take on their rivals.
Kenya will be starting their qualifying campaigns in Cairo against Egypt on November 11 while Mozambican will be taking on Rwanda in Maputo on November 14.
The presence of Wanyama (Tottenham Hotspurs), Joseph Okumu (IF Elfsborg, Sweden) and Jesse Were of Zesco United is a major boost to the National Soccer Team.
