Jubilee party's candidate in the Kibra by-election MacDonald Mariga on Thursday night conceded defeat.
Mariga called his main rival in the by-election Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth to congratulate him for taking the lead in the Kibra by-election.
In a video that was shared on Mariga's Twitter handle on Thursday night, the Jubilee candidate is seen talking to Imran via phone.
"Hello boss, it is Mariga. I have called to congratulate you. The race was good, we did not fight anywhere and have been together. I am even ready for lunch. I will also be available for whichever support you will need from me. (Hallo boss, ni Mariga. Nimepiga nikuambie congratulations. Race imekuwa poa, hatukupigana mahali popote tulikuwa pamoja. Niko ready hata kwa lunch…vile utataka, na pia support yoyote utataka kutoka kwangu, niko ready,” Mariga told Imran as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The former footballer went ahead to cite that life will go back to normal after the election.
“After the elections we shall go back to our lives of being friends and everything...Indeed sir. (After elections tutarudi ile life yetu ya mabeshte na kila kitu…Kabisa Sir),” he noted.
Imran Okoth acknowledged the congratulatory remarks from Mariga and appreciated him.
Provisional results indicate that the ODM candidate won the seat after garnering 24,416 votes while Mariga had 11,068 votes.
