Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said the Ukambani region should speak as one during Buildings Bridges Initiative(BBI) meetings for the sake residents.
Taking on his Facebook page on Monday, Mutua urged the region to come together in unity for the important course.
"The building bridges initiative is meant to built bridges. In this regard, am not persuaded that the continuation of different ukambani factions planning BBI events are helping the BBI agenda of unity," he said, in the Facebook post.
"I have consulted Maendeleo Chap Chap, several national leaders as well as ukambani leaders and am convinced we need a unified approach to the BBI," he added.
According to the vocal county boss, unity will ensure that their voices as a region are taken serious.
He emphasized on the need to have a unified single meeting involving all the ukambani leaders to agree on a common approach for the region.
"It is important that H.E Kalonzo Musyoka and all the three Excellecy governors are present in the spirit of speaking with one voice on this BBI initiative that will affect the lives of our people in decades to come," he noted.
Mutua went ahead to advise that the two conflicting BBI meetings be rescheduled because the region will be sending the wrong message if the region holds both of them based on political following to discuss the same issue.
The two proposed BBI meetings include Kalonzo Musyoka's proposal on 7th February in Makueni county and the other proposal by the three Ukambani governors on Saturday in Kitui county.
The three governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Dr Alfred Mutua(Machakos) have been battling against Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka for the Ukambani supremacy.
