The cancer menace is currently among the most feared ailments in the country, having claimed lives of a number of notable national figures over the last few months.
Among the cancerous diseases claiming the most lives is the breast cancer, which the World Health Organization says might kill 42,260 persons this year, among them 500 men.
And though deaths emanating from this disease have been on the decrease since 1989, here are the warning signs to look for, and which might be an indication that you have contracted it.
According to Avon, the early signs of the cancer include growing veins on the breast, constant pains, nipple discharge, a lump, skin indentation and change in skin texture.
Others include inverted nipples; any changes in the nipple position, including it pointing in a different direction, bleeding on the nippe and the other sign being swelling around the armpit or collarbone.
Upon identifying any of these signs, the persons are advised to seek medical check up, after which they could be sent to a specialist.
Consequently, women are advised to regularly check their breasts monthly, a disease that kills 62 percent of the women diagnosed with the disease due to failure to go for checkups.
