Kisiang'ani said the ODM boss was performing well in his current position as the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, but observed he was not doing much about his presidential bid.

In a tweet on Monday night, the university don wondered what will be Raila's campaign message about ODM's main rival party, Jubilee, when he has been supporting its leader President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila and Uhuru have been working together since their March 9, 2018, handshake which resulted to the formation of Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) whose report is currently being debated and has the backing of the duo.

"So when will RAO begin planning for his 2022 elections? We know he is currently doing ok with the African Union job President Kenyatta gave him. But what will be RAO's message in 2022? Will he tell us to vote out Jubilee whose leader he is currently closely working with?" Kisiang'ani posed.

The analyst claimed the ODM boss was eyeing the executive Prime Minister post which he thought would be created through BBI, saying since it was never proposed, he must now strategise on becoming the Head of State in the next polls.

"He wanted the post of Executive PM through BBI but that has not worked. So he has to purchase another bullet for the 2022 Presidential race. Is he going to campaign against Jubilee in 2022 or not?" Kisiang'ani posted.

Raila has been avoiding the 2022 succession debate, and he recently hit out at a local daily after it ran a story claiming he had declared he will be in the race to the State House.

"Odinga believes that three years of dissecting poll numbers and forcing candidates into the race rather than focusing on real and urgent economic, political and social issues that the nation needs to deal with ahead of 2022 is reckless, irresponsible and cheap journalism," said his spokesman Dennis Onyango.
