A host of Orange Democratic Movement party leaders are accompanied Raila Odinga to Kilifi on Saturday for the burial of Ngumbao Jola.
Mr Jola, an uncle to Ganda ward MCA Reuben Katana, was shot dead following chaos that erupted in his home when Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa visited.
The ODM party had on Saturday hailed the deceased as a hero, terming his death as political assassination.
"Today, Saturday October 26, we lay to rest our Shujaa Ngumbao Jola, who was felled by assassin’s bullet in Ganda Ward on October 16.
"Our Party Leader @RailaOdinga will be there to honour the hero who paid the ultimate price for our victory in Ganda. May his memory be blessed," the party said in a tweet.
But politics are likely to dominate the burial given that a host of ODM leaders are already in Malindi, the stronghold of Aisha Jumwa, who has since cut ties with the party.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi is leading the coast troops in the burial. His Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho is also among those present.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who also doubles as National Assembly Minority Chief Whip is also accompanying Mr Odinga to the burial.
Others present are Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, Owen Baya, Woman Representative Getrude Mbeyu among other local leaders from the coast.
