Reports from Tanzania indicate that Balinya is already in Kenya to undergo assessment ahead of the transfer.

Gor Mahia tactician Steven Polack confirmed that Balinya was set to undergo various tests, before a decision is made on whether to sign him or not.

"The player arrived today (Monday) and I will asses him today to see if he is fit to play for Gor Mahia. I may either decide to sign him after watching him today or a couple of training sessions. If he is not fit, we will not consider his services,” said Polack as quoted by The Citizen.

If signed, he will replace departed Ivorian talisman Yikpe Gislain; who ditched Gor Mahia for Tanzanian giants, Young Africans SC.

Balinya; a Ugandan national, has previously turned out for Ugandan sides including; Police FC, Vipers FC, Bunamwanya FC and Lweza FC.

Balinya's assessment comes amid reports that a number of players, could ditch Gor Mahia in the current transfer window over financial constraints in the club.
