Former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro was summoned on Friday by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over a scandal involving a ghost Sh48 million Kasarani Girls’ High School.
EACC states that procurement laws were also abused. Her husband Ferdinand Masha Kenga has also been summoned and face wilful failure to comply with public procurement law, conflict of interest, dealing with suspect property and unlawful acquisition of public property charges.
“The Commission conducted investigations and established that the school does not exist and that payments were made to different individuals and companies associated to the National Government Constituency Development Fund (CDF) patron and committee members,” EACC said as quoted by Citizen.
An Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission statement on Friday confirmed that two people are behind bars over the same case.
Former Kasarani CDF committee member Jecinta Akoth Opondi and former Kasarani District Development Officer Kefa Omanga Omoi have been arrested.
According to Citizen, those summoned by EACC on Friday are Elizabeth Ongoro, Ferdinand Masha Kenga, Mwalim Rashid Mrafi, Ruth Kanini Kitonyi, Sivan Onyango, Pamela Mudha, Nashon Odongo, Claperton Ouda.
Others are Douglas Parshet, Vitalis Obunga Ogingo, Maricus Otieno, Peter Aming, Maurice Orongo, William Ogutu Weda, James Juma Ochieng, Peter Ongeyo, Charles Owino, John Obonyo Owinga and James Miruka Dola.
