Kadenge died on Sunday at Meridian hospital in Nairobi, after a long illness.

The leaders said that the deceased will remain an inspiration to youths who want to pursue their career in football and other sports.

In his message, Wetangula said he has lost a true friend, adding that Kadenge has left a mark in the world of football.

“The curtain has fallen on our football legend Joe Kadenge. His football artistry equaled modern day Thiery Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Weah, Samuel Etoo etc. We must have a proper policy for the welfare of our sports heroes/heroines. RIP Joe,” he tweeted.

On his part, Sakaja said he received the news of Kadenge's death with deep shock.

He pledged to support the family in different ways following the demise.

“What a sad sad week .... sad to hear that the legend has slept. RIP Joe Kadenge. You have left an indelible mark in our country. Your contribution can not be forgotten. Pole to Joe’s family, friends and all who knew and loved him,” he tweeted.

The legend died at the age of 84.
