Opposition leader Raila Odinga has condoled with the families of the students who lost their lives at the Precious Talent Academy.

Writing on Twitter on Monday hours after the tragedy, Raila prayed for comfort and strength for the families.

"My deep and heartfelt condolences to the parents and guardians of pupils who have unfortunately perished at Precious Talent Academy in Dagoreti. May God grant them strength as they struggle with this tragedy. I wish all those injured a quick recovery," the tweet read.

At least seven students died after the school's structure caved in on them, leaving scores injured.

Kenyans on social media have been reacting with shock to the development.

Among the high profile leaders who showed in the tragedy scene is Esther Passaris, the Nairobi Woman Representative, who expressed her condolences to the families.

She said that more needed to be done to ensure that safety was ensured in the construction of schools.

Pasaris revealed that the ward in which the tragedy occurred lacked public schools.

She called on local authorities to ensure that schools do not build storied building so as to prevent such tragedies in future.

Students who survived the tragedy were rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where they are undergoing treatment.
