Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's meeting was on Thursday brought to a standstill after a group stormed the meeting demanding that Mutira Ward Representative Kinyua Wangui given a chance to speak.
The residents accused the county chief of denying Wangui a chance to address the residents over what they termed as sidelining their leader.
Waiguru was inaugurating a market in Kigumo town and trouble started when she said that she will not allow people undermining her to speak, speech directed to Mr Wangui.
"Respect is two-way traffic. I also deserve to be treated fairly as a leader," she said as quoted by Nation.
This did not go well with the crowd which started booing and Waiguru bowed to the pressure and gave Wangui the chance.
However, Mr Wangui maintained that he was fully behind Waiguru's government and the perception of him being a rebel is being fronted by his enemies.
"My political enemies are antagonising the Governor and I. I support the development projects of the devolved government so my foes should stop misleading the Governor," said Wangui.
Waiguru later noted that the disturbances were being engineered by hired goons
"Those were not residents. They were goons given money to try and cause chaos but I will not give up my mission to initiate development projects meant to benefit residents,'' she said.
