Renowned lawyer and socio-political commentator Nelson Havi has taken to Twitter to defend former Director of Public Prosecutions Philip Murgor, who is defending the wife of slain business tycoon Tob Cohen.
In a tweet on Saturday, Havi rattled off reasons why the public was not justified in attacking Murgor.
He said that it was not the former DPP who was on trial and that Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, who is a chief suspect in the Dutch's alleged murder, was innocent until proven guilty.
"Let’s be fair to Philip Murgor for several reasons: 1) it is not him on trial but his client; 2) his client is presumed innocent until proven guilty no matter the apparent vehemence of evidence against her; and 3) Murgor declined the appointment by DPP as Private Prosecutor. ^DoS," Havi's tweet read.
Murgor was subjected to vicious attacks on Saturday after Cohen's body was discovered in an underground storage in the early stages of decomposition.
As the lawyer of the prime suspect in what the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) say is a brutal murder case, the former DPP has been poking holes into the prosecution's case, seeking to get his client off the hook.
His services to Sarah Wairimu has not sat well with a section of Kenyans.
