Speaking during an interview with NTV on Tuesday, Eseli said that the leaders' attention should not be diverted by the woes of the governor. He argued that time has come for leaders to concentrate on important issues affecting Kenyans rather than the arrest of officials from the government.

"The main issue in this country is the collapsing economy but we are spending our time on Sonko. There are bigger problems facing this country than Sonko's arrest. We are diverting attention," he said.

The lawmaker also said that Kenyans have been unable to deal with the issue of tribalism. Eseli opined that there is a need for the issue of tribalism to resolved once and for all for the sake of the growth of this nation.

"We Kenyans have failed to handle our tribalism and so we need to legislate about it," he said.

On the disbandment of the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Eseli said that we need to clean the system and not an electoral body. He further argued that the country has lost it all by focusing on the wrong issues when tackling grave problems we are facing.

"We are focusing on the wrong thing, the electoral body, we need to look at the electoral system," he argued.
