Bonchari Member of Parliament John Oroo Oyioka has raised concern over uncollected garbage at Suneka Market.
Speaking on Thursday at the market, the lawmaker criticised the county government of Kisii over failure to collect the garbage.
He said traders at the market and customers risk contracting diseases due to the uncollected garbage.
"It is shameful that despite traders paying daily taxes to the county government, garbage is not being collected as required. The devolved unit should not neglect the people of Bonchari this way," said Oyioka.
Oyioka noted that it is sad the people of Bonchari rallied behind Governor James Ongwae during the 2017 polls but his administration has failed in effectively providing services to residents.
He promised to engage the county government to ensure garbage is collected on a daily basis in a bid to provide a conducive business environment for traders and other members of the public.
"Traders should not pay taxes to the county until garbage is collected. Every individual should enjoy the fruits of devolution. Bonchari will not be left behind in matters development under my watch," said Oyioka.
