Kenyans living in Nairobi County are expected to express their views and opinions on the Punguza Mizigo bill beginning Tuesday this week.
Various stakeholders within Nairobi county have been invited by the the Nairobi County Justice and Legal Affairs Committee to take part in the exercise which will run up to Wednesday.
According to a report by Standard, the debate of the bill was suspended by the Nairobi County Assembly to seek public participation and expression of views from county residents.
On Tuesday, Kenyans residing in Starehe and Mathare sub-counties will converge at Kariokor Social Hall to participate in the crucial exercise.
Those living in Roysambu, Kasarani, and Ruaraka sub-counties will gather at the Kahawa West market parking.
On Wednesday, residents of Kamukunji and Makadara sub-counties will express their take on the bill at Jericho Social Hall whereas those from Lang'ata and Kibra will use Karen Social Hall as their meeting point.
Riruta-Waithaka Social Hall will be the meeting center for residents of Westlands, Dagoretti North and South.
The views expressed by the public on the bill will be summed up in a report which will then be presented to the county assembly by the committee.
The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) Secretary General Kipkurui Chepkwony had earlier on called for dismissal of other initiatives such as Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which he claimed would cause confusion.
"In light of the on-going debates on the constitutional amendments, and the impending referendum we have resolved that the county assemblies should ignore other initiatives to avoid bringing confusion to Kenyans," Chepkwony said as quoted by Standard.
The bill needs approval from a minimum of 24 counties before it is forwarded to Parliament.
