Boda Boda operators will have to close business operations by 11 PM in Keumbu sub-county in Kisii. This follows a series of crimes that involve the boda boda operators directly, where they are said to be hijacked at night and beaten or their motorbikes stolen.
To curb the theft menace the area Chairman Kennedy Maburi has come out to warn operators not to work beyond the said time beyond which a lawful action will be taken to those who will go against the decree.
The Nyumba kumi leader in the area Kennedy said this after a man who was only identified as Willy stole a motorbike and hid it in a forest on Tuesday.
"I was called that a motorbike had been stolen. Fortunately, there is someone who saw it being stolen. Reaching there he directed us to the person only known as Willy. True to his word we found the motorbike hidden behind Nyosia market center. We arrested him and he is in the police station," said Maburi.
This is just one of the series of crimes that have been reported in the area recently. Maburi, therefore, asked the boda boda operators to leave their work areas for home before 11 PM to avoid such occurrences.
"Am requesting the boda boda operators operating at night to be careful as the month of December is full of uncertainties. Equally, the operations should end before 11.00 PM. Whoever will found operating beyond that, will have to face the law," Maburi warned.
