The three, who were nabbed over the weekend, are suspected to be part of a syndicate that has been drugging drivers before making away with their vehicles in Kasarani area.

Kasarani police boss Peter Kimani confirmed the arrests, adding that the group which has also been venturing into Roysambu area has been using psychotropic drugs to achieve their goals.

He said a number of items were found on them including sim cards, phones, and drugs alongside two vehicles they are suspected to have stolen.

"Several items were confiscated during the operation by detectives based at Kasarani, including a Toyota Probox, phones, SIM cards and assorted psychotropic drugs,” he said.

According to the police boss, the group has been targeting revelers in nightclubs before robbing them, adding that the police have also launched a manhunt for the fourth suspect.

Area DCIO Mwenda Meme said the group was arrested after the police, acting on numerous complains from members of the public, decided to go after them.

Mr Kimani identified the gang leader as Stephen Njoroge Njihia, whom he noted that they have been after for a long time over criminal allegations.

The others are Francis Kinyanjui and Gladys Wanjiku and are currently being detained at the Kasarani Police Station.
