Kisii Governor James Ongwae has revealed that the set up of various businesses in the county has boosted economic growth.
Ongwae further pointed out that existence of financial institutions has also played a key role in the growth of the economy.
"We have over 20 banks operating in Kisii. This has increased circulation of money among residents easily thus improving the economy of our county. I urge investors to continue setting up large businesses in the county without fear," said the county boss as reported by Egesa FM.
Ongwae who is serving his second and last term in office further revealed that the opening of Central Bank of Kenya Kisii branch and Immigration office in the county has boosted the economy.
He argued that Kisii residents and those from neighboring counties such as Nyamira, Migori and Narok will not be travelling all the way to Kisumu and Nairobi to apply for passports.
"Before I leave office in 2022, I will ensure more businesses are set up in Kisii to create more jobs for our youths. My administration is committed to work with all investors to ensure the economy of the county grows," stated Ongwae.
He also asked his critics to shun divisive politics and support him in serving residents.
