The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to release the results of the verification of 1.4 million signatures collected by Third Way Alliance in a bid to change the constitution on Friday.
The Ekuro Aukot-led party is optimistic that the electoral commission will give it a go-ahead to present the proposals to the county assembly upon approval.
The political outfit submitted the signatures to the commission on April 28 under its "Punguza Mzigo" initiative.
"We drafted a Bill seeking to amend the Constitution through a popular initiative as per Article 257, (1) after collecting 1.4 million signature," said Aukot, as quoted by Standard.
On his part, Party Secretary General Fredrick Okango has exuded confidence that the political outfit has met all the necessary requirements for the amendment of the constitution.
He said that the proposals are like a general suggestion, adding that they move will change the nation if embraced.
The party is rooting for a seven-year one term presidency and reduction of the number of lawmakers.
Aukot’s team opines that the country continues to lag behind in terms of development because of the loopholes in the law.
He has affirmed that the proposals will make the country better in the near future.
