In an interview in Kisumu on Monday, Oliver Msanii said that a video sells an artist much more than an audio.

“When people listen to you, they also want to see you sing. That can be achieved through releasing videos of audio tracks we release as musicians. A video sells a musician much better than an audio,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Andrew Ondego, a Kisumu based Radio Presenter.

“Kisumu musicians should work hard towards releasing videos. A video can make one to get a deal that could not be achieved by only having an audio,” said Ondego who hosts the weekly African Flavor show on Kisumu-based Sky FM.

Oliver Msanii joined the Kisumu music scene in 2017, and he already has several songs to his name.

The Umaarufu award winner says his music is now being embraced in various places in the country, more so Mombasa.

His hits include Kazi kwa Bidii, My only One, Party, Go Gaga and Binadamu Story, all of which have video versions.

His latest song is named Ligi Ndogo released last week.

The musician said that he is happy that most musicians in Kisumu continue to embrace having videos now, as compared to when he joined music in 2017.

“I think I have had a positive influence on a majority of Kisumu artists as they now continue to embrace releasing videos. I hope this trend continues,” said the civil engineer.

He has so far worked with several upcoming musicians, among them Pharice Real, Kevo Willis, Dogo Boy, Celine and E’zars.
