On Friday, Deputy President William Ruto fired shots ahead of handing of BBI report, which is expected to recommend a host of constitutional changes.

In a tweet, Ruto insisted that the content of the report will have to be examined by people. He insists that changes cannot be made by few individuals in hotels.

“As a democratic society the proposals by BBI will be subjected to an open national conversation where every voice (the weak/strong, the small/big) will be heard,” Ruto tweeted, Friday.

But at Mombasa, Uhuru accused those opposing the BBI report which is not yet out as petty, adding that he will not spare them when time comes.

The head of state is expected to release the final recommendations on Sunday at Mashujaa Day in Mombasa, together with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“The BBI is meant to bring Kenyans together. We cannot make meaningful progress if other people are left behind. I will remain focused in building the country,” said the President.

He said BBI was aimed at addressing election-related differences witnessed in the past with a view of having a lasting solution.

“That road (BBI) myself and Raila with other leaders we shall complete. Do not be misled, love your country, love and respect yourselves. I am confident we shall accomplish the mission,” he said.

BBI team was constituted by Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 March following the historical political truce between the two.
