Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Friday held a meeting with health workers to deliberate on several issues affecting them at their workplaces.
The governor and medics reached an agreement on pending promotions after several hours of discussion.
While addressing the entire team of health workers outside City Hall, Sonko said that his government has plans to implement the first phase of the promotion before taking into consideration the second phase.
The first time governor said that the second phase will be considered after the reading of the supplementary budget.
The county government promoted 2,153 health workers. The medics were served with their letters of promotion on Monday. Sonko said that the issue will be handled as raised.
He pledged that he will not ignore the plight of health workers.
“We have to follow the law and we can only promise what we can give anything else has to be factored in the budget,” Sonko told the health workers.
He held that the county government has allocated Sh130 million for the promotions.
