Renowned political analyst David Makali has weighed in on what the intentions of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga might be behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking on Sunday on the 'Punch Line' program aired on K24, Mr Makali asked the two top political leaders to come out clean on what their BBI intentions are.
He appealed to them, to be honest with members of the public who are their supporters and tell them that the BBI is a vehicle for them capturing political power.
"Then what they should tell the country is that this is a political truce between us and it has the objective of us taking power," Makali said in a video shared YouTube.
The BBI has been clothed as an initiative aimed at bringing the country together away from the divisions and tensions of the past.
However, cynics hold that it is all about securing the political interests of Uhuru and Raila.
Pressed on the issue, the two leaders have always denied that they are keen on exploiting the BBI for political advantage.
The initiative was born out of the dramatic handshake between the president and the ODM leader after months of political tensions in the country.
